"LUPUS AWARENESS IN OCTOBER"
Did you know that October is not just "Breast
Cancer/Cancer Awareness Month", but that it is also "Lupus Awareness Month?"
-
Did you know what "LUPUS" was until you or someone
in your family or that you met had it?
-
How many people do you know that even know what "LUPUS"
is, much less heard its name?
Do you know that some people confuse Lupus with
AIDS/HIV or Cancer when the words "autoimmune" or "chemotherapy"?
Never would I lessen the impact that Cancer has
affected many families all over the world, but it took the dedicated families, friends, victims and supporters to get "Cancer"
known and not just called, "The Big C". Now it has come time to do the same for Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that
affects many more people than we would imagine and we all have very different affects of Lupus. Lupus is a worthy adversary
in its own right.
October is not known to many people as as "Lupus
Awareness Month". It is up to those who endure Lupus, their families, and supporters to stand up, be proud, educate, and Thank
God that once a year we have a whole month to celebrate our lives and to realize the strength we thouht we would never have
had.
Lupus patients are strong, but we are susceptible
to things that affect our everyday life. Besides the fact, Lupus is one of those diseases that does not deform us so much
to seem "abnormal" to the other people, which is another challange we have because we always "LOOK FINE". Many people
are not aware what Lupus is, nor how many types there are, nor that we are all not the same. WE SHOULD UNITE, BE PROUD,
STAND UP (if you can), and EDUCATE those around us. So please pass it on that October is Lupus awareness month. Even
though we deal with it everyday of our lives, we have one month to use it to our benefit.
